Elegant large oil painting portrait of a lady, c.1820s - 30s I found her in an anonymous collector's estate in Ohio, and the balance of estate goods are all fine quality, lots of fine English and European antiques, blue transfer ware, etc., to the extent that one can almost 'know' the collector's eye and love of these old treasures. Was the woman a relative? Is she English? European? Can't you just see her hanging in a guest bedroom. Frame is 27" x 23 1/2" oval and 2 1/2" in depth, excellent condition for age. The painting is, as well, and is 23 3/4" x 20" rectangle, oil on canvas, old wood stretcher. I'd date it all c.1825-30s based on fashion as well as frame/stretcher.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, as you can see, the frame shows age and a bit of loss to the plaster appliqué border, and also needs attention to the bottom board where it has possibly paint loss from moisture. There's one spot on the lace bonnet of oil painting which needs a restoration/repaint, visible and marked on our photos for your review. No other issues to report. She's really wonderful, and her fashion and jewelry are sublime!
