Splendid pair of panels dating to 17th century, early woven tapestry salvages from border panels of a huge wall tapestry. I'm uncertain if Aubusson or French, or Flemish tapestry. These are restored, ready to make up into spectacular decorator throw pillows. As you can see, each of these 2 squares consist of joined longer panels which as noted, are salvaged border strips. Each one has a dove, and they perfectly compliment each other. Nicely jointed in center, further framed in with a yellow antique to vintage woven trim. You need only decide which color heavy silk or velvet to back them with, and how lush you wish to go with your fringe, passementerie, or corner tassels. All of the top decorator magazines are showing pillows and wall hangings of these tapestries, Aubusson, Gobelin, Flemish, etc., even in the most modern interiors. I have collected the finest panels for 30+ years, always sure I'd have time to make them all up into fabulous pillows, and find I am short of time, so here you go. Full measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Spun and dyed wool yarns, strong warp, beautifully preserved and whatever small restorations needed have been already don't. No unpleasant odors. Just stunningly beautiful and important ancient works of loom weaver's art. Very little evidence of fading (see colors on backsides) which also means the tapestries they were taken from were not hung in direct sunshine, also a sign they are stronger, survive in superb condition.
