Wonderful & Rare antique 19th century Anglo-Indian "Sadeli" or "Vizagapatam" 13" desk, document or glove box, an impressive & large casket in sandalwood with ornate incised & lac filled mother of pearl mosaic style Inlay and immense visual appeal! Made during the Victorian era and earlier for the Grand Tour traveler or European market, these treasures come mostly from the British East Indies and are relatively rare these days, especially in this larger size and in such fine shape! One of the more visually appealing Anglo-Indian boxes that we've had the pleasure to offer! Rare larger size and just a magnificent inlay pattern!
Very good condition. I've included large, clear photos of every side and angle and, as you can see, there are a few missing inlay or trim pieces but it's in overall wonderful shape. The interior is raw wood with no lining but also no evidence that there ever was a lining originally. See pictures for all measurements.
