Fabulous & rare antique Victorian to early Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved 15.25" tall liqueur or liquor service, caddy or tantalus, a magnificent golden eagle, hawk or bird of prey with intaglio engraved decanter and four cups or cordials with facet cut stems!  We've had several of these old Black Forest liquor stands in the past, most with the Brienz bear as the figure either holding or supporting the decanter in some way with the cordials held as if in a pannier or pack on his back.  This one quite unique with the large bird, what appears to be a golden eagle or hawk perched on the darker wood branch and base that doubles as the cordial holder.  Wonderful detail, this one has small two-toned glass eyes and just look at those talons, wonderful!  The forward portion of the base with small signs that it may have had six hooks to hold two more cups but a wonderful decorative piece as it is.  Don't miss it!

Very good condition.  There are a few chips to the wing feather tips, a few small spots that appear to have been filled with wood filler.  As noted, it likely would have held six cups.  The decanter and cups may not be original but fit and display wonderfully.  See pictures for all measurements.
