Rare antique Victorian era sterling or silver plate accented 15 1/4" riding crop with acanthus & intricately braided handle! One of two equestrian related items that we're adding this week, perfect as decorative accents for the horse enthusiasts! No hallmarks on either that I can see so they could be sterling silver but most likely Victorian era silver plate. This one a crop, you can tell it was used but the intricacy in the craftsmanship still quite evident and impressive. Used while riding horseback as an aid to the rider's leg cues and common during the Victorian era.
Very good condition, age & use considered. The short, stiff shaft at the end shows the most wear and would likely have had a leather flat ("keeper" or "popper") at its end that it there no longer. See images for all measurements.
