An incredible book from my library. One I've had for years and know is super rare. The Italian published c.1837 in Milan, this is the copy that was part of the library of the "Academic de Dance Tenue et Maintient" (held/kept by the Academie of Dance), "Director D. Moros, Alexandrie, Egypt" (Director D. Moros, Alexandria, Egypt). This book's text is online in full, the copy of the Borghese family. 315 pages of text accompanied by the final 1/2 to 1/3 of the book, all hand printed intaglio engraved illustrations, many fold out and even triplicate or quad-fold out prints, suitable for framing. BUT, I think the higher value is in the complete book. RARE! Illustrated by Ennion Quirino, Visconti, (1751-1818) "Published again per the Doctor Giovanni LABUS . Date of publication: 1837.

Very good condition for age and type. The cover is typical, gold embossed leather spine and card ends, entirely 100% cotton rag paper of finest quality. The intaglio prints are fabulous in this book. It is my 2nd favorite book in my entire collection. Filled with information, but the illustrations of the sculpture collection of Cardinal Borghese is truly magnificent. As you can see from sample pages, this book has a fully intact spine, foxing and typical dark spots on some of the pages. I do not find any pages missing. Property stamp on spine also identifies the initial collection as being the Academy of Dance, Alexandra, Egypt. I purchased this book in France ages ago. Isn't it fabulous! The book's measurements in full are noted on our photos, but the basic size is 8.5" x 5.5" and it is 2" thick as shown. Pages in that final 1/3 to 1/2 of book look like they are loose, but they are not. Those are the folded illustrations in hand printed/pulled prints, intaglio mostly. A few litho stone prints as well. Superb RARE book find!
