English Coalport dinner plates, the mark: c1881 to 1939, most likely c.1895-1910 Belle Epoch era. The set of 6 survives in excellent condition, obviously displayed and seldom (if ever) used. The wide hand painted and enameled border is finished with thick encrusted rim, as shown. The set was produced with export in mind, and to be sold through Ovington Brother's, NYC, one of the finest purveyors of opulent dinnerware and decor. A dinner party for 6 of your closest friends is perfect, and this set accommodates that. We've had larger groups and have alternated couples with complimenting era plates, expanding the guest list and the interest of the table. I love layering antique raised gold plates, dinnerware. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. I find no chips, no hairlines, no cracks, no crazing, and the raised gold enamel and broad border decoration is also without loss. Gorgeous cabinet display plates between use.
