Ready to work up into your own lush down-filled decorator masterpiece throw or decorator's sofa pillow, this exquisite late 1700s to early 1800s panel is a salvage from a larger chair's back. Seats of old chairs take a beating, but the backs are often beautifully preserved and strong and supple and beg to be made into pillows. This one is a gorgeous palette worked up with needlepoint and fine petit point in wool and silk yarns. I've shown it front and back so you can see the original colors have faded a little but not much, meaning it was not placed in sunlight where the fibers would fade and also weaken. The canvas on this one is strong - it will work into a stunning and large pillow. I had intended to make it up myself, but life got very busy. I've had it for decades, archival stored, and it is clean and odor-free. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, this is a French panel, beautifully worked and preserved, as noted above. Pattern and palette are both perfect for any home decor from accenting modern to antiques.
