The fur is just exquisite. Thick beautiful pelts nicely matched and worked dark brown mink. Stunning when worn, it's probably a 'go to' for casual wear. It's just shy of perfect, I think, but warm and pretty. I would guesstimate it was made in 1980s and I've owned it 15 or more years. I'm not much into wearing furs, but I've accumulated some I've worn maybe once or twice. Someone shorter than I had the sleeves shortened, and with a full 6" of fur inside the sleeve hem, one could certainly have it lengthened to much longer sleeves. I turned them up in a cuff (some of the photos show them un-cuffed - it's just a fold and the fur will smooth beautifully when you decide how you want to wear it. When I found it it was a perfect fit. I'm 5'8" tall, then a 6-10 size range depending upon designer. I think the jacket, which is custom tailored and has a hand-quilted silk lining and embroidered "Audrey Powell", would be a size 10-12, or Medium. There is a large 6" overlap front with 2 buttons, which are just for show, the coat closes with an elastic loop over button, so can be adjusted for a little larger size or front. It is a rich dark chocolate brown with highlights to red/carmel - beautiful fur! Please by by the measurements which are as follows:
21" sleeve, measured from shoulder curve (raglan but with notable shoulder. There is another 6" of perfect fur beyond that 21" if you want to lengthen the sleeve. I had just turned sleeve up with cuff as shown on several photos.
28" long, back neck seam to hem
18" shoulder, (not a shoulder seam, but shoulder is formed)
5" collar at back, turns up beautifully or lies flat (shown both ways)
22" armpit to armpit, with 6" overlap double-breasted (can be larger in body by moving the eye for the hook closure - simple.
53" circumference at hem.
Slit pockets both sides, mid-way between side seam and front.
Very good to excellent for age and type, beautifully crafted. I'm certain it was a very pricey one, it's very NYC. Silk satin lining is in fine form, hand quilted and embroidered. There are no other tags or markings. There are no odors, no stains, A dot or two with a few mink hairs lost, perhaps, but no holes nor bare spots anywhere. The large lapel collar turns up and is just stunning. The jacket is loose around waist. The overlap at front closure is currently 6", so it could be sized up a bit by moving buttons. The buttons are simple anchored with an elastic loop, no buttonholes, so you'd really just need to move the button an inch or two closer to front edge of coat to give more room. I love this one with collar up, and it's gorgeous with beautifully tailored wool slacks or with jeans, either way. Could certainly dress up to formal or evening. Has been preserved perfectly. No losses.
