Lovely little antique French Belle Epoque era “eglomise” or reverse painted glass jewel casket or patch box, a souvenir of Sacre Coeur de Montmartre in Paris rendered under a thick beveled glass lid and with an ornate gilt finished body! The actual box and cabriole style feet/legs are in pressed brass with an ornate scrolling design around the sides. This one appears to have had a little coat of gold paint sometime in the past but some steel wool would likely bring it back to original if you wish. The scene on top is likely a combination of transfer with the sky and details hand painted on the back side of that thick beveled glass panel. It shows that beautiful Sacre Coeur cathedral, situated on top of the hill in the Montmartre area and overlooking the city of Paris. Really beautiful photography possible from the top of that one, if you can make it up the -step spiral staircase that is.

Very good condition. As noted, it looks as though someone has gone over the box with a gold metallic paint. Some very slight separation in a spot or two to the paint in the sky, the most notable to the left of the cathedral. See pictures for measurements.
