A spare from my collections, ready to fill in one of your own fine early 19th century French Palais Royal sewing boxes, or just to add to your thimble collection. This one is so beautiful, and has no evidence of ever having been used. These antique thimbles usually did have 18 karat gold ring or band at the base, but this one does not have that ring and is plain. Shown on silk embroidery panels that are, as noted, not included. The color of the pearl shows much better against the color and we use them for that purpose. Only the mother of pearl thimble is for sale for you in this listing. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. No visible blemishes or flaws on view in display. Close examination looking from interior as I hold it up to light, I can see 2 faint natural material hairlines, no long and not breaks - just a mention, and not visible at all on the outside of the thimble; one minuscule nip to the rim. Seems likely to have been one that would have an 18k gold ring trim, but that, if ever, has been lost to time. A little beauty, so hard to find, and so often the one item missing in antique French sewing etui, necessaire, sets and boxes.
