One of the most extensive sets we've had in quite some time, here we have a truly exquisite 182pc set of antique French sterling silver & 18k gold on silver "vermeil" flatware with a beautiful acanthus & rocaille accented pattern and a massive 10pc place setting for EIGHTEEN with three matching serving pieces! Stunning! Just in from France, and we had all pieces professionally polished so they're as gorgeous as can be and ready to use. The set includes:
18pc 10" dinner knives
18pc 8 1/4" luncheon or entremet knives
18pc 8 1/4" dinner spoons
18pc 8 1/4" dinner forks
17pc 5.5" teaspoons (yes, one missing)
18pc 8 3/8" dessert or fish knives
18pc 8" dessert or fish forks
18pc 6 3/4" vermeil dessert spoons
18pc 6 3/4" vermeil dessert forks
18pc 8" vermeil dessert knives
2pc salad serving pair and a fish or dessert serving fork implement
All of the pieces bear the French Minerve or Minerva (handles on the dessert or fish forks, knives & larger serving fork since the blades on those are silver plated), the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). All silversmith marks are for Maillard Freres & Vazou, Paris circa 1897-1903. A magnificent set, don't miss it!
Very good to excellent condition! The pieces do have some light scuffing or scratching, indicative of age and light use but no damage to note on any of the pieces. Exceptional given the set's age! The dinner and entremet knives have the original pre-stainless steel blades so they will have some visible age tarnish and/or corrosion in some spots. As noted in the images, the chest and black box the set came to use in are not original for the set but perfect to use to store this treasure. The set has a total weight of 343.2 troy ounces or 10,675 grams (that includes the pieces with silver-plated blades or tines and the knife blades). See pictures for all individual weights and measurements.
