Visually stunning, an exceptionally gorgeous tortoise shell veneer on wood case and bronze 15" tall mantel clock, this one has attending CITES certification from our import from London. Pendulum is included but when we purchased it there was no key with the clock. One of our other clock keys fit to wind it. What I can tell you about the clockworks is that it will operate, but it will stop on its own. This usually means the clock needs at least an interior cleaning, but possibly an adjustment. It is possible the pendulum isn't original. We are not clockworks experts and we do buy clocks for their beauty. It is not overwound, but it seems fully wound so don't crank it further before having a clockmaker service. The shaped and kiln-fired enamel dial is beautiful on this one, and it is face-wind for both clockworks and bell/chime. The hinged convex glass cover fits perfectly and has protected the face of the clock. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition as to the case, which is complete and sturdy. No losses to the tortoise shell veneer, no chips or cracks - one shoulder has some coloration change perhaps from sun exposure or perhaps just natural to the old shell slabs. All the bronze, including the elegant basket up top are firmly attached, and none is missing or broken. Displays beautifully, seems to work mechanically, suggesting it's complete, but it stops so either pendulum isn't correct or it needs a cleaning and adjustment. I have photographed the works, number, marks. We think it's a Belle Epoch clock in the manner of French King Louis XV.

We also recognize the vast cultural history we preserve with our care and reverence for these antique objects, and agree with CITES that objects over 100 years of age have nothing whatsoever to do with species depletion in our current world.
