Exceptional & rare matched PAIR of antique French or Bohemian Napoleon III era or earlier wheel cut crystal 16" decanters, possibly unsigned Baccarat or Moser with DEEP wheel cut decoration, unique double curved spouts and simply gorgeous hollow stoppers! Aren't these magnificent! I've looked through our reference guides and found similar cut patterns in Moser works though nothing exact (and, honestly, nothing quite as impressive as this pair). With the huge, elegant 7.5" stoppers, each stands roughly 16" in height (11 1/4" without the stoppers) and the two together weigh just over 8 lbs (3.6 kg)! Thick crystal bodies with deep wheel cut grooves, the curved spouts a lovely addition and really add to the visual appeal, if that's at all possible. Simply gorgeous, a prized pair and guaranteed to impress!
Very good condition. One of the decanters has a chip to the base edge, nothing overly large though, and the bottoms of each have some surface scuffs and/or scratching. One decanter also appears to have had chips to one side spout, it has since been professionally narrowed a bit to remove the chips giving it a bit more of a pointed tip (where the other three spouts are more rounded). One curved spout has a small chip to the under side edge (visible in the images). Each of the stoppers have small chipping to the tops. Lastly, one of the stoppers has a repaired hole in the side. The 'bubble' within the stoppers made some of the cut sides very thin and one somehow got a hole knocked into it. I sent it to our glass repair man who filled the hole with resin to strengthen it (though you can see a bit of the resin on the inside of the bubble under closer inspection). Wonderul condition given their age though and still a pair to treasure! See pictures for all measurements.
