I have SO much antique jewelry to work up and list, and I'm not good at photographing it. Oddly, this is so much prettier in person and in its own size. It's a Victorian era sentimental jewelry piece I found in Germany years ago, and I admit I thought it was likely garnets set, but in fact they meter as Rubies. The gold tests at 14k but not at 18k, so likely 15k to 16k which were karat densities used in the era the piece would have been created. I do not have acid for the 15k or 16k. It's heavy, but I am not positive the backside is also karat gold, so offering as if only the front piece is. The rubies are facet cuts, not very large. The face of the brooch is 36 mm, so gives you a sense of it. A half dome at center, and a large locket aperture at back (I'm not quite certain now to open it, likely pries out). A bale has been added at top for a safety chain, but it could be worn as a pendant.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, my extra large photos show I did not do much to clean it, not wanting to snag rope work or a ruby. Will leave it to the next owner. No dents, no losses. Pin appears to be silver, so perhaps a replacement some 100 years or more ago.
