Wonderful antique Victorian to early Edwardian era amber glass desk top inkwell, diamond shaped with wheel cut faceted edges & lid, brass collar and in wonderful condition! Inkwells have always held a special place in my heart, the idea of having these rather utilitarian items fashioned to be visual pleasures. Gone are the days since the invention of the fountain or ball point pen but the romance of hand written correspondence is really something we seem to be lacking more and more lately. This one in heavy, soiid amber colored glass with crisp wheel cut bevels, edges and an alluring hexagonal or diamond shaping. A wonderful decorative accent.
Very good condition. There is a flash chip to the rear left side of the lid, shown in the images. Possibly a tiny nip or two and some age tarnish to the brass but in otherwise wonderful shape. See pictures for measurements.
