Spectacular find, these rarely come to market, sometimes you see the tiny real Spanish walnut made into a nécessaire or etui will open to reveal a complete set of sewing tools, or as in this case, a beautiful pair of scent, perfume, salts flacon mounted in .800/1000 silver (almost sterling) with appropriate control marks. These were novelties made and popular in the c.1820-30 era in France, appealing for children, tourists, and just as baubles for those who shopped the Paris Palais Royal boutiques. Very good to excellent condition for age and type, but missing the tiny silver funnel that would have fit into the hole you see in front of and between the 2 undamaged cut cranberry glass perfume flasks, bottles. One stopper is missing, but the other is there, slightly stuck in place. No damage at all to bottles, not even in the slender necks. There is a restoration to the shell, bottom half to right of clasp. Without pointing it out, you probably wouldn't notice it at all. Textured like the natural shell, matched well in color, but we mention anything of which we're aware. Sweet little collector's gem!
