An interesting portrait miniature from my collection, French and early 1800s, I have still not decided if this is a young woman in gentleman's clothing, or possibly a riding habit, or it's a very feminine boy. While ambiguity has always been a bit up-valued by the French, in this time period (early 1800s) it is seen far less than other eras. Either a beautiful boy, or a beautiful girl. The painting, portrait, is beautifully done and yet we have no signature by the artist. This is more often true than not. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, an unsealed back with obvious age, and a cleaned convex cover glass, a pristine wafer and painting. I see no flaws to note other than light age to the wood frame.
