Fabulous antique Victorian era Black Forest hand carved 7.5" plaque with rare fox & game hen or rooster figures, mountain home or cabin in the background and gold or gilded bordering! This one carved in a solid panel, what appears to be walnut or similar hardwood rather than the lighter weight linden wood that was more common with Black Forest carvings. Hunt theme, well at least the fox is hunting, shown here with a hen or rooster already in his clutches. A delightful smaller decorative accent, don't miss it!
Very good to excellent condition. I see no damage to note other than a small nip or roughened spot along the edge or corners. Not sure if the gold outer is original but possible and it really acts as an attached gilded frame of sorts, fabulous! See pictures for all measurements.
