Fabulous antique Victorian to early Edwardian era hand carved 17 1/8" long fireplace bellows with fleur-de-lis & seashell accents and solid bronze spout held by a figural lion's head carving! An exquisite decorative accent! It sure seems like a long time since we've found a really great carved fireplace bellows, the dry spell ends with two wonderful pieces that we're adding this week and a few more to come as soon as we can get them photographed. Beautifully hand carved front panel with seashell accented handle and large scrolling fleur-de-lis in the center. The rear panel also with less ornate carved accents and rather unique in that the back is the 'hinged' portion on this one (the front panel is the mobile portion on most bellows). Carved in what appears to be oak or ash with a light natural finish. As a perfectly usable decorative accent next to the hearth, can't beat this one!
Very good condition. As noted, the baffles have been restored with new 100% genuine leather so the piece is ready for another 100 or so years of use. A few small edge nips but no larger chips, no cracks or warping to the solid wood panels. See images for all measurements.
