Fantastic & rare antique Napoleon III or Victorian era hand carved 21 3/4" fireplace bellows, magnificent detail with mythological Boreas or North Wind figure, original leather baffles and an exquisite decorative accent! It sure seems like a long time since we've found a really great carved fireplace bellows, the dry spell ends with this one though it's sure to sell within days. Beautifully hand carved front panel with flowers & foliate, scrolls and the air intake is actually the mouth of that superb North Wind figural bust. Also another figure holding the brass spout, can't miss that one. As a perfectly usable decorative accent next to the hearth, can't beat this one!
Very good condition. There are two small repairs to the leather baffles, one a split on the left side where it meets the spout and has an inner leather repair that's virtually invisible from the outside. The other consists of two newer strips of leather that connect the lower figural panel to the spout. No warping to the wood panels, no other damage or repairs to note.
