"Fabrication Parisienne, Or Controle" gold embossed maker mark applied on the interior of the old case for this lovely antique cigar and cheroot holder. The amber is a deep cherry color, gorgeous, and trimmed with an acid tested and hallmarked 18k gold crest or medallion sans monogram and a gold ring at the end. Amber is fossilized resin of certain species of ancient extinct trees and used for a variety of items during the Victorian era.
Very good for age and type, it is a beauty, and you can see it has hardly been used and cherished, it's been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized nonetheless. With its original leatherette-clad case to protect it for a century or more. Please don't ask me to weigh the gold. It is acid tested at 18k and also bears the French eagle's head hallmark.
