Oh, the colors are to die for! A fabulous c.1850-70 (Napoleon III, Victorian) needlepoint panel which would have then been made for a church kneeling bench, pew prayer bench. It has a tiny rim of crimson velvet so I am sure it actually was in use at one time. But it's in such remarkably fine condition for its age, it seems as though it was never made up. The colors are not faded, as you can see (front comparison to back) and the palette is truly splendid. A full 10 feet long, 8" wide, it begs to have sections worked up into decorative throw pillows, or even a long bolster for a king bed, doesn't it. One of my favorites, it's time for me to accept that I'm not going to really ever make up all of the 150 or so panels I've stashed through the decades. Will pass them along to you decorators, clever seamstresses. Making a throw pillow (lush fringes, down-filled) is such a simple project. You can do it!
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. I think I did see one small spot that needs a few minutes needle mending, but there is no fade, no yarn deterioration, nothing to keep you from falling in love. Rare to find a panel intact in this length. You could do valances for your windows. Get creative. Photos show the stitching, the opulence of the palette. Made up, you've got loads of value and centuries of beautiful living with this one.
