A stunning silk embroidered needlepoint fire screen with lush long silk fringe and all the original French passementerie cording. Found in France, it dates Napoleon III or Victorian era (c.1850-70). Very well preserved, it still has the original silk moire backing. These were used, hanging on a metal bracket hinged to move freely into a protective position for guests. Now, they're wonderful as wall decor, or framed to display with sewing collections, or made up into (my favorite) lush down-filled throw pillows. Designer look - and really a fun and easy project. Mix and match with some of our other panels to create your unique room decor. Full measurements are noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, this one is a strong enough panel and free of damage so  you can fine success in making it up as a throw pillow. Or, would be exceptional if you decide to frame it as art. Re-use the cord and fringe or work it up to your own decor and taste. I find no deteriorated silk and the backing is worked in a fine needlepoint. Fringe is nearly 5" long and undamaged.
