Another jewel of a photo frame, this one is large at 10.5" wide and 9.75" in overall height. Made around 1870, it is sized for the 2nd type of paper photos, the Cabinet Card. Beautifully crafted with kiln-fired champleve enamel work that remains fully intact. A swirl of line and color, just enough to accent your favorite photos. The original thick and beveled glass for both sides remains intact, a couple of small imperfections but rare to find one like this without something to report. When I bought it, it had 2 cabinet card photos, which I've left and they show as backside - well, the one not showing is of a child. It's always easier for you to truly see the frames if they're empty when photographed.  Easel stand in back, all working beautifully. Glass slides up and out the top, you put your photo behind it and slide it back in place - simple!

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. There are a couple of imperfections to mention, however. The curling base to the bottom right is a little bent. Not distracting, but I'll draw it to your attention. I imagine it could be relatively easily worked back to rounded curl to match the left bottom. Also, there are a few small flash or corner chips to the frame - I've marked them so you can evaluate. With photos in place, they disappear from view, but they'll cast a little shadow against the plain white. These thick panels of old glass really gather the light in a wonderful way, and are precious even if slightly imperfect. The enamel work is very nicely preserved and intact, and so delicate it has a look of pique-du-jour, which is enamel in shaded manner done in open-work form rather than like this one, recesses in metal (champleve). Painstaking work, enameling. Easel stand is perfect.
