Such a stunning fine still life oil painting, ready to hang as it is or to be framed to your liking and taste. A vibrant and accomplished "nature morte", fresh fruit and a hanging pair of quail or game hens - the preparations for a meal. This is a favorite subject, and a traditional theme for a dining room or kitchen. It represents a prayer of thanks for the bountiful (or sometimes very meager) meal about to be prepared. This one is exceptionally pleasing for its lively color, the marble table top, the composition in general and that delicious looking fruit the artist has achieved. The artist has signed the work, "F. Regniér. I can tell from the old stretcher board and old linen canvas showing on sides that this is late 1800s to perhaps as late and 1930, but I can't find the artist listed. Lots of photos to show the talent of the artist.

Very good to excellent condition throughout, age and type considered. There are some small signs of age, which you would anticipate, but no holes or tears. You can see the old stretcher frame and also that the original linen canvas has been re-bonded to a stronger linen canvas (visible from back) and re-mounted to the stretcher, preserving it for centuries to come. Light evidence at perimeter indicates it might have once been framed. Our photos are quite detailed, show the actual palette of vibrant color, and please forgive the spots where photography lights have cast a glare. Lighted or not, this one is a magnificent still life.
