Elegant antique to vintage French vermeil or 18k gold on sterling silver & intaglio etched fruit, salad or ice cream serving bowl with unique styling and fabulous condition! The rail around the outside is actually meant to hold this dish over a lower bowl that would be filled with ice, keeping the contents nice & cold, which would be the case with ice cream though the uses are really only limited by your imagination. I've shown it with fruit forks resting around the outside, another idea and it looks great! Thick, heavy sterling silver, the outer rail feels like it's solid rather than hollow. The piece bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within that mark means it's in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). Silversmith marks are for Gustave Keller, Paris circa 1881-1922. A gorgeous serving piece, you'll LOVE it!
Very good-excellent condition. No chips, cracks or damage to the glass, no bends, damage or repairs to the vermeil rim. As you can see, there is a bit of visible tarnish (sorry) but no signs of wear to the 18k gold vermeil finish. See pictures for all measurements.
