You're buying a pair of throw pillows made up decades ago using antique needlework panels and lush French passementerie, lush double-twist and pompoms that is a full 4" in length. The large pillow is actually huge at 24" x 22" and thick, heavy. The smaller matching panel is 21" wide and 10" high. As you can see, the large one is figural and the smaller matches the florals. The panels are, I think, a machined needlework. Woven somehow rather than actual needlepoint. The look of needlepoint and finer petitpoint (figures). The trim is exceptionally opulent and perfectly matched for palette. So pretty!
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. The pillows are backed by a black velvet. The panels are framed in with the same velvet and each has a band of antique metallic 1"+ broad woven trim. Overall appeal is big! There are a few flaws in the appearance of loose lines of wool yarn here or there. Look for them in the many photos. They are not pervasive, but perhaps have occurred from excessive use. A bit of needlework will mend them, though most don't mind a flaw or two in these old panels. They are zippered, as you can see in our photos, and each has a feather and down filler pillow, fresh and muslin-crafted casing. No feathers ever push through. The larger pillow is the size of a European pillow - big! Smaller one is more of an accent or lumbar pillow. The pair are being sold together. We've used them in our pet and smoke-free home for years. No odors.
