Fabulous antique Victorian to early Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved 23 1/4" tall chest or cabinet, a marvelous & large box with acanthus accented scrolled feet, quiver & arrow, torch and foliage carvings and wonderful visual & decorative appeal! A beautiful and impressively sized chest or table cabinet, this one does have some old wood worm damage but nothing active now and it's simply gorgeous! Rare large size, it stands over 23" tall and is 19" wide at those lovely scrolled feet. The upper portion with cabinet style doors with two adjustable wooden shelves inside and a lower drawer. The cabinet doors with ornate carvings that include oak leaves on vines, acorns and an arrow filled quiver on the left and torch on the right. The drawer front with acorns & oak leaves also. Attractive lighter wood finish and working lock with old skeleton key. A wonderful decorative accent, don't miss it!
Good to very good condition, age and materials considered. As mentioned, there is some old wood worm damage, the upper center finial carving was broken off and had been glued back in place. The piece appears to have a newer clear coat finish on it. Some small chips or nips in places but, as you can see, it's been well cared for and in fine presentable condition.
