A pair of Napoleonic French military officer parade epaulettes (epaulets) in gold metallic embroidery, with lush bullion fringe and in their original box. These metallic thread epaulettes (also called shoulder boards) and bullion fringe decoration on his uniform. My quick research suggests these belonged to a Colonel, yet I also see same look for Leutenant. We have several pairs and a single or two. This set comes with their original box. There remains a handwritten affixed stamp on bottom, but I can't decipher it.
Lots of images to show the condition. From beneath, the black felting and gold bullion fringe is superb. Same from top re the fringe, which misses not a single strand. Lush and thick. The metallic thread on the top of the boards shows age and some patina change we did not try to clean at all. I think it will come bright again, but we'll leave it to someone who knows more about cleaning the metallic surface. Measurements are noted on the photos. No odors. Nicely preserved within original card/paper box. These are heavy!
