A rare matching pair (2) of fine early 1800s scent bottles, elaborate collar shrouds and base. Very fine condition throughout, and I have wrong lighting to capture the brilliant claret red of the glass which sandwiches to the clear outer glass and puts a red glow through all that gold look worked ormolu shroud, hinged cap and platform base. Stoppers repeat the clear glass and are each in place. Measurements noted on the photos. These are from the Louis-Philippe era and likely originally offered to market through the boutiques of the famed Palais Royal. Bottoms are filed pontil, one larger than the other.
Very good to excellent condition, no chips nor hairlines nor cracks at all, and no damage to any of the fabulous ormolu. One tiny ding at the top point of one hinged cap. Both stoppers in place and show no damage. At the moment, they're slightly stuck. I'll pass them to Rick to soak out the stoppers. We don't force them for fear of damaging them. I've shined light down into the neck and no chips nor cracks show at all.
