If you've followed us a while, you know I'm just in love with these little French souvenirs, back-painted glass (eglomise) views of Paris and other city iconographic architecture. They were souvenirs of the Grand Tour, or Paris Expos and others, and are today the perfect souvenir of your own Grand Tours. This is an early one, c.1840-70s, spanning the Napoleon III era (mid-Victorian). Just 3.25" long, it would be such a fabulous gift, too, with your promise of a trip (when we can again fly safely), or perhaps an engagement or to mark your own memories made.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. The interior silk lining remains almost entirely intact (some coloration changes in bottom), and there are no chips, cracks, or paint loss to the 2 roundels. You can see from the sidelong view in our photos, there is mother of pearl backing that shimmers light through the front of the Pantheon, and also windows of the other building. Charming and early. Full measurements noted on our photos. Collect a table grouping, or fill your vitrine, or just have one for your overnight jewelry at bedside. I guarantee you it will lift your spirits each time you see it, remember your own fun in Paris.
