A charming devotional intaglio book illustration printed from a copper plate, noted illustration after Leonardo De Vinci's work depicting Mary and Jesus and John The Baptist as babies, the latter holding a lamb. It is, of course, a visual of "The Virgin Of The Rocks", child and angels painting by Leonardo Da Vinci, possibly from an art book or museum book, early 19th century. Religious theme, and valuable print in its own right, alongside the beautiful antique French frame in which it has been housed for perhaps a century or more. Easel-stand back. Very good condition for age and type. Both print (on 100% cotton rag paper, hand-pulled intaglio print from a copper plate) and the antique frame are beautiful and without damage or loss. A silk covered mat with brass aperture frame shows some age but is not tattered. Found in France.
