A charming mid-Victorian era (Napoleon III, c.1850-70) French Grand Tour souvenir, charming small jewelry or trinket casket in worked ormolu with green enamel, and unique little bell-like feet. The really unusual thing about this one is the subject of the eglomise architectural souvenir, that little painting - it's actually quite rare to find one with St. Sulpice as the subject. One of my favorite of the many churches of Paris, it was more popular with tourists earlier, but rarely seen after about c.1850s.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, the little casket has definitely been well-treasured. It has a professionally relined interior in silk, trimmed in a tiny French braid which mimics what would have originally been there. No chips nor cracks nor flaws to the oval glass inset, painting, and overall the casket is very fine. Measurements noted on the photos, but it is 3" widest.
