I've added a final image to show you what this gorgeous little item is. It is half of a 2-piece buckle which would have been used in the Empire gowns of Napoleon & Josephine's era. I've had a few of these, and we have an entire 2-piece buckle listed separately. The interesting thing about these little gems, apart from their very advance age and opulent beauty, is that they are from the boutiques of the famed Palais Royal, Paris. The old Palace of Cardinal Richelieu, just a short distance from the Louvre, the Palais Royal was center of elite society's entertainment, commerce for a century and a half, and the boutiques that lined the promenade offered up the most splendid of treasures to its patrons. These buckles among them. Now they're popular as a pendant (see backside) and are fabulous enhancers for your pearls, as well. This one is beautifully made of fine old mother of pearl. Photos tell all.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, age and type considered. This is one half of a set of 2 buckles (we do not have the other half, sorry). Measurements are noted on the photos.
