A perfectly preserved 19th century souvenir, surely of the French beach resort areas, this superb 8.5" tall sail boat with inkwell is as charming as can be. The twisted wire rigging holding the sails to the mast, anchor to the bowsprit, small pocket watch display hook at the top of the mast and the finest materials used have retained the lustre of the mother of pearl and the brilliant gold of the alloy metal used. Original inkwell fits perfectly in place, lifts out to clean, and hasn't a single flaw that I can see.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Natural sea shells are used to craft these c.1850-90 souvenirs, and for this well-treasured one. Inkwell is also without chip or loss, and all the details in the twisted wire 'rope', riggings, anchor and all are just superb on this one. A small chip or two to the mother of pearl.
