Beautiful with the block & page matched patterning in the parquet work on this fine Napoleon III (c.1850-70) kingwood glove box. This size and shape were specifically made to hold pairs of gloves, though perfect now for gentleman's jewelry or even a document box (marriage, wedding, legal or your family's old letters). The front and lid panels open completely to a nearly as attractive finished burled or birdseye maple lined interior. A beautiful piece with old French visual & decorative appeal!
Very good condition for age and type. Photos show all sides, no chips or losses to the veneers and the brass lid edging is entirely in place. This has been a fine quality maker, though the lock plate has no engraving. There is an old skeleton key though I don't believe it turns the lock. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
