A beautiful old 19th century French or Austrian chatelaine, holder for a lady's pocket watch there at the bottom, with a glass aperture on backside through which she could see the time. While it seems to be silver, I find no hallmark to depend upon, and it is more likely a nickel silver or lower silver content alloy. What might seem like it could be a hallmark on the hinged chatelain bar, back side, is not.  The 3 charming panels of convex copper, each worked with kiln-fired enamel in the theme of Psyche and Cupid, are wonderful, and yet at an angle I can see that an old restoration has been done on the round one. These enamels are porcelain powders, melted by the kiln firing, and are rather fragile, as such. It is not unusual to have damage or loss. We have taken all into consideration on our price. Well worth a proper restoration!

Very good condition for age and type. Not perfect. You can see that the old original cover glass on backside of the watch holder has a fracture across it. I've had this one for ages, always thinking I'd take it to have a crystal fitted, but in fact, here it is without a new one and time to clear little project items.  The beauty is not diminished, truly, but it is a flaw. Priced accordingly. Full measurements noted on photos.
