Elegant antique French COMPLETE matching 9pc sterling silver serving utensil or implement set including meat carving knife & fork, salad serving fork & spoon, 4pc hors d'oeuvre pieces and the rare inclusion of a 'truelle a' poisson' for fish or possibly "Pele a Tarte", all with unique guilloche style engraved pattern in the shaped handles AND all beautifully kept in the original ebony or ebonized wood & brass inlaid fitted Napoleon III storage and/or presentation box! A wonderful set, complete and all pieces with matching pattern. Hallmarked sterling silver handles and blades/bowls on several pieces (including the truelle or pele). The French Minerve or Minerva on each, the tiny number "1" mark within designates them as being .950 silver content (95% pure, higher than the .925 standard for sterling silver). I can't quite make out the silversmith marks, they're both tiny and somewhat obscured but I'll see if a loop with enlarge them enough and add to the description if I'm successful. Original steel tines & blade on the meat serving pieces, sterling handle and blade on the 'trull' & hors d'oeuvre pieces. All original and all in wonderful shape, gorgeous!
Very good condition. A slight dimple possible to the silver handles but no notable damage or repairs. Some tarnish and/or age corrosion spots to the steel (pre-stainless steel) on the meat knife and fork. There is also some slight discoloration to the early celluloid portions of the salad fork & spoon. The box is original, all pieces fit and the box itself is in great shape though it has some light scratching to the lid and is missing what would have been a circular brass escutcheon (with a small veneer chip just below). Also, it has no key. A paper label inside the lid reads "Bosson Joaillier Bijoutier, 17 St Perreol, Marseille - Paris P. Neuve des Petits Champs 51". See pictures for all weights and measurements.
