Antique French Sterling Silver on 18K Gold "Vermeil" & Pearl Fruit & Cheese 2pc Knife Set

Fabulous antique French Louis XVIII to Louis Philippe era 2pc 18k gold on sterling silver "vermeil" 8" fruit & cheese knife set with solid shimmering mother of pearl handles, original steel & hallmarked silver blades and fitted travel, storage and/or presentation box or etui!  In a word, gorgeous! A pair, surely meant for fruit & cheese though their use is really up to you.  No hallmarks but the collar & caps are surely 18-22K gold plated sterling silver (vermeil). Also, the cartouche you see inlaid there is 18K gold or plating on silver.  The one solid silver blade with French hallmarks that date them between 1819-1838 though I've been unable to find reference to the silversmith marking.  Be sure to browse some while you're with us, we've been adding a host of truly superb old French, European & American silver pieces & flatware sets and we're sure to tempt you! Very good condition. One blade hallmarked sterling silver, the other the original pre-stainless steel and does have some visible age tarnish and/or corrosion marks. Not a hint of damage to the mother of pearl handles.  The box is original and does show its age a bit with some chipping and/or losses to the gold embossed leatherette covering.  See pictures for all measurements.
