Wonderful antique Victorian to early Edwardian era 9 1/4" cigar presenter or specimen chest, an attractive box with richly burled walnut veneers, five sliding drawers or compartements with working lock & key! The handle on top is definitely Secessionist style, the box itself completely veneered in a richly burled walnut with the lid edging in a unique white color quarter round. The lid and front panel open after unlocked, revealing the sliding trays inside. Four on top of the same depth, the lower slightly deeper and with partitions. There are no grooves or dividers for cigars specifically but it could be used for that, a specimen chest is a little more fitting though. Perfect for a collection of antique or heirloom pocket watches, jewelry, antique pens, etc. Uses basically up to your imagination but the box itself is a wonderful decorative accent!
Very good condition. The white quarter round moulding framing the lid is in wood but with some missing sections it has been restored with a white wood filler. No missing or damaged veneers that I can see, all drawers and turned drawer pulls are intact and in great shape. Working lock & key. See images for all measurements.
