Absolutely gorgeous & rare antique Dresden marked 12.5" tall 2-branch gilt bronze ormolu boudoir lamp, signed porcelain figures with musical motif, hand painted porcelain flower accents and as near pristine as can be! We're always happy to find the wonderful old Dresden, Meissen or French porcelain lamps with these beautiful old hand painted flowers all over them, and all the more so when we can locate one in such beautiful condition. Perfect for a desk, writing or bedside table - well, for just anywhere a little elegant romance and delicate beauty is needed. The lamp has the old wiring which we'd suggest be replaced before use though I did plug it in and it works. We'll leave that decision to our buyer, however, as some want to keep them all original. It would be wonderful with bulb shades or with crystal beaded bulb covers, or just leave the decorative candle lamp bulbs bare. The back base of the porcelain figural centerpiece is signed "Renard" into the porcelain and bears the blue underglaze Volkstedt mark. A truly fabulous piece!
Very good to excellent condition. As noted, it has the original wiring and, though working, we'd definitely recommend replacing for use. No damage to the central porcelain figures other than missing fingers from the outer hands of each. There is a missing porcelain flower from the lower curve of the right branch and possibly a few small chips to the flower petals. The piece even has the old original wooden faux candle covers on each side, complete with faux dripping wax. No marks on the gilt bronze base. See pictures for all measurements.
