Someone's Grand Tour souvenir, no doubt, from a visit to Switzerland, this elegantly hand carved Black Forest glove box comes through the ages without so much as a chip, but it's lost its interior bottom liner. Such a simple thing to replace, you'll do it in an evening. We want you to see it as it came to us from France, though. The floral bouquet on top of this one is spectacular in detail and quality. Finer than most! A shaped and flaring box, it rests upon 4 beautifully carved feet. Photos show all angles, and full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, with the mention of the missing interior bottom lining. It's really so simple to reline these old boxes, though, you'll have new silk picked out and have it done in no time. A thin layer of cotton batting and a cut piece of cardboard, a bit of fabric glue or even Elmer's if you're very careful. Such an elegant form on this one and superior artistry to the carving. Timeless flowers!
