Missing the carved caps to the pair of inkwells, but otherwise superb, this late 1800s hand carved Black Forest (Swiss) desk caddy, with broad leaf & acorns tray and a box for pen nibs and stamps, is just superb. The pair of hand carved birds in next up top is without damage but perhaps a tiny nip to tip of one wing. Not noticeable, even their pointy beaks remain, which is quite rare. They lift up and back to reveal the storage box they cover. The acorns are a personal favorite and very popular, too.
Very good to excellent for age and type. Inkwells are both in fine form, though as noted, they no longer have what would have been carved wood covers. Alas, dating to late 1800s, earliest 1900s, most of them have lost something in time. Large and charming as can be. No evidence of wood worm infestation. I see there's a chip to tips of 2 leaves also one there in the very front, almost flat, small, not distracting, and another to the right of that one. Look our photos over, please. It's a beauty!
