Beautiful antique 19th century Napoleon III era Chinese import engraved 19pc mother of pearl gaming chips or tokens in ovoid form with engraved or incised floral decoration and all in wonderful condition! A SET OF 19 here, all matching with engraved decoration on each side. Photographed against a black background to both accentuate the shaping but also to show the beautiful 'rainbow' iridescence of solid mother of pearl. These are wonderful pieces with almost no signs of their age and no major flaws that I can see. These are pieces that would likely have been in fine old French Napoleon III gaming boxes, imported from the Orient likely during the height of the Chinoiserie popularity, though we have seen them offered as sewing silk winders (not so). A set of nineteen tokens which are all near pristine. Very good to excellent condition, just as you see them. Looks like we could have wiped them with windex before photographing, you can see a few soil spots :). Possibly a tiny nip or two but no larger chips or cracks. See pictures for measurements.
