This one is quite wonderful, whether you choose to use it for cigar service at table, or for a votive or small candle inside to light a bathroom or bedroom. The 2-pc set is beautifully preserved, though I wonder if there might have once been a brass rim on that upper lip of the goblet-like vase, since the inner rim is rather rough cut. You take a look. Perhaps it's just that it's got a little old roughness from original cut, but it just bothers me a little this way. Maybe a brass top with wire mesh as a cap and it was a scent burner - that's probably it. In any case, it's as you see it, presents beautifully in that Celeste or "Sevres" blue everyone loves in fine old French opaline glass. The stand for the goblet or vase is high polished brass, and together, a very lovely old set of 2 pieces. Measurements are noted in images, but the saucer is 7.5" in diameter with a 1" depth, and the goblet piece is 5.5" tall and 2 7/8" diameter at base, about 3.5" in diameter at it's widest part of the bowl, and 2 1/8" diameter at the mouth.
Very good to excellent for age and type, no chips nor cracks, but the inner rim of the glass is rough-cut, perhaps suggesting there might have been a brass rim or perhaps a pastille burner like top on this one. It isn't damage - just is the way it was made. We've noted it in our images. Nothing by way of flaw on that big beautiful opaline saucer. I like this one for a votive candle in a bathroom. You'll find your own way to enjoy it.
