Not a hunting or trophy painting - this type of painting is a traditional still life featuring small birds or sometimes a fish, vegetables, a pan or pottery - dinner prep and the meaning is a little prayer of thanksgiving to Nature for the bounty and the provision of the daily meal. Often hung without a frame, the older ones done on wood board more often than stretched canvas, it's a kitchen wall image in a very humble home. The artist whose work falls into that "nature Morte" genre, has signed bottom right, "Dubois". I do not know more about this artist. I believe it is a painting of vintage rather than antique age, perhaps c.1930-50. I found this one in France, already put into a wooden frame which is much newer than the painting. Sealed from the back, I have guessed at the actual measurement of the painting. Full measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, a superb and intimate painting. I can mention the frame is likely c.1950 or later, and it has some surface imperfections but shows the painting very well with the gold filet highlighting the aperture. I find no imperfections, really, to the painting, though it is sealed, as noted, and I can't examine from the back.
