From my own collections of decades: "Alfred Tindall, died 13th May 1847 aged 6 months" - just a baby. No photos, just a lock of very blond baby hair for the family to keep as memento. Antique 12k Gold and seed pearl hair art mourning brooch, c 1847, early Victorian Era. Total weight: 3.55 grams. Double row of fine seed pearls, each representing the tears of the mourner. Thin unbraided pale blond hair inside, and the sad engraving on back. I sometimes use these grouped on a jacket lapel, or clasped over a strand of pearls - so many compliments!
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Brooch is 25 mm x 20 mm x 4 mm plus pin back, and seed pearls are .5 mm for each row, a single corner one chipped not much noticeable and its only flaw. No breaks and no dents. Superb mourning jewelry!
