Then to reach forward to open it, hoping it's close to perfect, and see the mirror intact and with its chenille frame, a fine turquoise silk satin lining in fine form, with the original sewing tools, apart from one unmatched silk winder, and then - there they are, Persian turquoise jeweled mother of pearl scissors, unbroken and with 18k gold sheaths, and . . swans! Such a thrill. As if I haven't bought every fine one I've come across, I added one more. I think it's the swans that cinched the buy. Full measurements are noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition throughout, a slight nod to age and type. The box is simply perfection. I don't see a scratch nor a missing cut steel jewel. Beautiful burl wood! working lock with original key. Interior mirror unbroken and chenille trim and the silk satin original lining in fine form, lift-out tray holding nearly all the original sewing tools. One snowflake silk winder missing and a damaged and unmatched spare has been put in its place. I don't see a little ribbon for it, but a set like this would have had a bodkin, too, either in 18k gold to match the trim on other pieces, or perhaps one in mother of pearl. That bodkin (string or ribbon threader) has gone missing. The rest remain and are perfectly fitted to their recesses, unbroken. Oh, the scissors have Persian turquoise cabochons decorating one side of the scissors, and not the backside. All you'll need to search would be a bodkin and a silk winder. The original is one of the easiest to find/replace (encouraging you), and the round mirrors beneath the spools are unbroken originals, too. What a find!

https://antiques-uncommon-treasure.com/it/products/exceptional-c-1810-30-french-palais-royal-sewing-box-mother-of-pearl-18k-tools-swan-scissors-turquoise
