Fantastic & rare antique early 1800s French or Italian hand carved 10" tall nativity scene, Black Forest style with exquisitely detailed Mary & child Christ, three kings presenting gifts and surrounding stable type structure! Amazing! I found this one in Paris on our last trip and meant to get it listed before the Christmas holiday but, to be honest, I've been procrastinating doing so because i just love the piece! Truly amazing detail to the small figures, all entirely hand carved by a true master surely. A few small repairs but the condition is also noteworthy, especially since I mailed it back home before heading on to Florence and didn't pack it all that well. A true treasure, whether you're looking for a decorative or devotional piece, this one is special.
Very good to excellent condition, age and materials considered. There are breaks to the tips of the front right side king figure's shoes, tiny nips to his crown. Possibly a tiny nip or two on the other figures but, as you can see, they're all magnificent. As is the stable structure, complete with the rear door slightly ajar.
